Dr. Scott J. Folkman was born in Albuquerque, NM. He completed his B.S. at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. He then pursued and completed his Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry at Colorado State University, under the guidance of Professor Richard Finke. After his Ph.D., Dr. Folkman engaged in postdoctoral research at the same university with Professor Garret Miyake. He then moved to Tarragona, Spain, to work as a postdoctoral researcher at the Chemical Institute of Catalonia (ICIQ) under Professor J.R. Galán-Mascarós. In August 2023, Dr. Folkman began his position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at NMSU.
Outside of his professional life, Scott enjoys a range of outdoor and physical activities. He is keen on hiking and mountain biking, finds relaxation in paddle boarding, and maintains a dedicated practice in yoga and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
